control operate or jettison of various weapons carried by an aircraft or helicopter.
The AIU interfaces with the aircraft Mission computer via MIL-STD-1553B or RS?422 data bus. The AIU offers MIL-STD-1760 compliance operation of non-1760 weapons. This enables the operation of new, sophisticated weapons as well as standard, common weapon through the same communication channel. The AIU handles all the safety critical requirements of the armament. The AIU can be adapted to as a Station Interface Unit (SIU) or a Wing Interface Unit (WIU) dependent on aircraft configuration. The AIU can also operate under the control of a dedicated Weapon Control Panel (WCP). | ||||||||
